Eolo
I'm writing to share my frustrating experience with Eolo, an Italian internet service provider. I signed up for their advertised 300mbps connection, but after installation, the actual speed averages between a meagre 11-20 Mbps and only reaches a maximum of 35 Mbps after weeks. This falls far short of what I was promised and would have been paying for; as suspect are many others.
Installation Concerns:
Beyond the disappointing speeds, I have serious concerns about Eolo's installation practices. They mounted the antenna for their radio broadband service (using Intracom Telecom hardware) on a neighbouring building despite my reservations.
Furthermore, despite raising multiple support tickets regarding these issues, Eolo has been unresponsive. They either don't address the tickets or simply delete and close them unresolved.
Technical Concerns:
The placement of the antenna also raises technical red flags. In an Alpine environment prone to electrical storms, mounting it the antenna so the cable directly directly crosses underneath the power lines and strung through trees with electrical tape seems highly concerning. Professional installations typically involve a secure, grounded ferrous cable to minimize electromagnetic interference. This lack of proper installation could very well be contributing to the low speeds and outages I'm experiencing.
Call to Action:
Has anyone else encountered similar issues with Eolo or found a more professional and more reliable Internet Service Provider than Eolo? I'm hoping to find solutions to improve my internet speed and reliability. Are there any alternative ISPs in my area (Central Val di Susa in Piemonte) that offer better service and installation practices?
