Lucy Porter comes to the legendary comedy venue “The Attic”, the Southampton-based Comedy Club, to give yet another hilarious performance

Lucy Porter show in Southampton Comedy ClubLucy Porter, born on January 27th 1973, is an English comedian, writer and actress who has participated in festivals like the Edinburgh Fringe and Brighton Festival as well as various comedy clubs around Britain. She is also a frequent contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Quote… Unquote and The Personality Test programs.

After getting her English Literature university degree from The University of Manchester, Lucy Porter started off as a reporter for the Big Issue in The North. Whilst being a researcher for Granada Television, she began to perform stand-up comedy on shows such as The Mrs Merton Show. Her first gig was at a club in Chester which she chose so that if it went poorly, nobody from her hometown would know her.

Acting-wise, she made brief appearances in Life’s a Pitch and Absolute Power. She was featured in TV commercials for One2One during the year 2000. In 2004, Lucy’s first highlighted acting role was alongside Christian Slater onstage performing One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; she reprised her part of nurse for the 2005 London production.

For over a decade, Lucy Porter has delighted comedy fans across the country with her optimistic, energetic routines. She has also ventured internationally, performing in cities like Hong Kong, Bangkok, Macau, Manila, Switzerland and Paris. In addition to that, she was invited to participate in NBC’s Last Comic Standing and entertain audiences in the US for NBC and HBO’s Las Vegas Comedy Festival. Within the UK, she is a sought-after performer taking part in Manchester, Glasgow and the renowned Kilkenny festival all while appearing at other notable festivals like Latitude.

In 2014, Lucy presented her 10th solo show called “Me Time” at the Edinburgh Fringe and went on a tour during the Spring. She also ventured into becoming a playwright with her engaging and witty play entitled “The Fair Intellectual Club”. Showcased at the Assembly Rooms of Edinburgh during the Fringe season, this work investigated what it was like to be an educated female in 1717 Edinburgh. After its successful staging in Edinburgh, BBC Radio 4 commissioned Lucy Porter to create a 6-part drama series based on the play for broadcast in 2016. Lucy was hard at work writing it.
