Marise Gaughan performing at Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Wednesday 14th June for New Forest Comedy Festival
Marise Gaughan, a celebrated writer and comedian hailing from Dublin, made her name in The Comedy Store and The Hollywood Improv after beginning her stand-up career in Los Angeles.
Her show Drowning, which premiered at the 2019 Dublin Fringe Festival, draws upon her father’s successful suicide attempt and her own unsuccessful one.
It earned nominations for the Fringe’s Spirit of Wit Moira Brady Averill Award for its bold and untypical content, as well as for the First Fortnight Award in recognition of its message to combat prejudice pertaining to mental health.
Marise was also awarded the Women’s Irish Network Arts Bursary due to this performance.
She has had the honor of supporting prominent acts such as Rob Delaney, Ari Shaffir and Jim Norton on tour – here with New Forest Comedy Festival.
